Happy Turkey Day!

First and foremost, HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY!

After a 10-hour car drive yesterday, I am finally in Nebraska! I have to say that I was half expecting open fields and half expecting snow and miserable temperatures. On both counts, I am experiencing the complete opposite. In this unusually warm fall season, we arrived to 70-degree weather and Omaha is actually quite large and "happenin'"!

Last night, we went to a nice "downtown"-like area that actually reminds me of OKC's Bricktown. It was so fun. We walked around and saw all sorts of little shops. But the best part about going somewhere new is the food. I have to say that I am not recognizing very many restaurants up here. Yes, there is the occasional McDonald's or Pizza Hut, but Starbucks are replaced with Indie coffee houses and Runza is basically the best thing to happen to Omaha since sliced bread. I look forward to branching out my taste palate over the next few days.

This morning, while the boys played flag football, I sat by the fields working my way through City of Bones. I have to say, this book is definitely testing my reading stamina. I am sitting about half-way through the title, and while I am loving it, I realize that its fantastical elements are slowing me down. I have 2 pages of notes serving as bookmarks to help me keep names of people, creatures, and places straight. It was quite fun, though, going to see Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part II and catching a glimpse of the City of Bones teaser trailer. I now have some point of reference as to what these characters could look like. Haven't seen it yet? Check it out below!

Until next time, happy reading!

  1. Hi Kim! Thank you so, so much for commenting on our blog last week! I'm so excited to have found yours! I just read your About Me and um, we could be twins or something. I went to Architecture school, but I contemplated med school and always wished I had gone with my heart and become an English major. :) Soul sisters for sure.

So glad you had a great Thanksgiving and enjoyed BD, part 2. I went to see it too, and while I wasn't the biggest fans of the books or movies, it was great to see them wrap up and I thought they did the movie well!

    Have a great week!

    1. Magan - Thank you for your kind words! I think book lovers definitely have a difficult time choosing a career field because we read and learn about so many different things. Sometimes I wish I finished Architecture or went on to Med school, but I am so glad I did study English, because let's face it... I basically paid to sit and read books for 2 straight years, at the end of which I received a piece of paper saying I was now qualified to speak about them... :)

I look forward to exploring your blog more. I am new to blogging (and reviewing, for that matter), so any tips or advice are always welcome :)

      Happy Tuesday!
